Pastor Keith K. Felps was born and raised in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, while his wife, Mary Lee Felps, grew up in Bogalusa - a small paper mill town north of Baton Rouge and near the Mississippi line.
They met in Baton Rouge in 1985 while Mary was attending LSU and Pastor Felps started attending the same church. They became prayer partners and two years later were married. They share the unique story of how they never dated, but simply felt in prayer that God wanted them to get married. They discussed it between the two of them, prayed about it some more, and then mentioned it to their pastor. And…the rest is history.
They have three wonderful children - Miriam, Anthony, and Abigail. All three were born in Texas and are somewhat proud to call Texas their home, although the Cajun cooking they get when visiting family in Louisiana is nearly worth a Louisiana birthright.
Pastor Felps holds a BA in Theology. Upon completing Bible college in Houston, they spent a tour in Mexico City, Mexico where Pastor Felps served as administrator at a Bible college. As they returned to the states, Pastor Felps took a job at the same Bible college in which he had recently graduated…teaching and administrating. Leaving there, he served as a Christian school principal and high school teacher for three years. When time permits, Pastor Felps also serves in various positions on the organizational level.
Our pastor's wife, Mary, is one of the most wonderful ladies you will ever meet. She has such a genuine love for people that makes everyone feel so good about themselves. Since Pastor Felps pulled her away from LSU, shortly before she finished a dual major in elementary education and Spanish, so he could attend a Bible college in Houston, she is currently completing her degree and will graduate this fall - 2011. Through the years, Mary has managed to be a tremendous mother and minister's wife, as well as teach in Christian schools for over 16 years.
As time has already proven, we are thrilled to have them as our leaders. Since arriving in 2002, we have moved from a store front meeting facility to nearly two acres with 7000 square feet of building space. As a church, we are growing as the Lord leads and are looking forward to many wonderful things in the future.
